Here's What Bloggers Are Saying About Amity of the Angelmen:

I went to college to be a teacher. I always thought that this was my calling in life. It turned out that I was misguided somewhere, but didn’t figure that out until after I graduated. However, the training and education I received has been quite invaluable. I also discovered some new things.

As a requirement for my degree, I had to be a teacher assistant in a middle school classroom. At the time, Rick Riordan was in the midst of his Percy Jackson series- and they were popular, and that’s an understatement. As a way to connect with the students, I started to read the books. I was pulled in from page one. Mythology was always interesting to me. While I don’t believe in any of it, studying it does give a glimpse into the culture that myths stem from and offer lessons in morality.

At some point when reading Amity of Angelmen by T.C. Slonaker, it popped into my head that it was like a Christian version of the Percy Jackson series. Instead of the main character being half human half God, the main character is half human and half angel. So with that in mind, keep reading for a plot summary and my review of this intriguing Christian YA novel.

In the book, Amity of the Angelmen written by T.C. Slonaker, a seventeen-year-old teenager named Amity gets followed and talked to by an angel. This has led to her knowing of the truth about her own identity: that she is not entirely human and that she is partly an angel. However, there's more to the revelation. She must deliver a message to Satan. With this new-found knowledge, Amity is thrown into an adventure she never thought possible. Along the way, she gets to find out who are the people to trust and otherwise. In this mission, she also gets to team up with a young priest named Mackenzie Abel who might or might not stand in the way of her success.

When I stumbled upon Amity of the Angelmen, I was instantly attracted to it because it had all the elements I look for in a book: a supernatural being and an adventure. It didn't disappoint. I was engrossed in reading T.C. Slonaker's piece from page one until the very end and I'm even asking for more. The story itself was interesting and it was coupled with extraordinary characters who were very vital for the continuity. I felt like I was a part of the adventure as I read. Slonaker's writing will pull you in and take you along. It was also very inspiring. I think this is a very good read, not only for teenagers but for people of all ages.

This is a fast-paced action filled series that is great for both Young Adult readers and Adults.
They read very quickly and remind me of the Frank Peretti Present Darkness series.

My thoughts:I thought the author did a great job of developing the characters. The chemistry between Amity and Mackenzie Abel was awesome. The plot was thoughtfully developed. I loved the dialogue, Slonaker made it seem so real.

Review of the Series Thus Far
Both Amity of the Angelmen and Asher of the Angelmen had my attention from the first chapter.  These books are paraquel novels; they are about different characters in the series and they occur simultaneously.  The whole series is a battle of good versus evil.  The main characters struggle to find their identities once they learn that they are nephilim, born of human and demon.

My favorite part of this series is the complexity of the characters.  Amity is my favorite character in the series before as she struggles to physically fight the powers of evil as well as the spiritual struggle of trying to serve God even though she is half demon.

This series eloquently combines fantasy, christian elements, action, adventure, and romance.  I would recommend this series to any fan of fantasy!

The third book in the series will be coming out within the next year and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

Final Statements

Recommended Reading Age: 16+ (some references to sex in a biblical point of view)

Overall Rating for the Series: 4.5/5

And on Amazon...

from "Melissa":
"Let me start by saying... this book is so different then my normal reads. The first chapter or two I was very apprehensive however, the author did a fabulous job of pulling me into the story of Amity David.

It certainly has a strong religious plot line but again, I felt like even if I didn't know some of the context, the author explained enough that I could follow along and make sense of it all.

Following Amity as she learns that she is a messenger and has to confront a very high power will send you on a roller coaster ride. It wasn't so far fetched that you'd have a hard time believing in the story.

The only thing I didn't like was the ending. And I'll just leave it at that. If you're looking to branch out and read something a little different, this four star read is for you. Give it a shot and one click it today.

from "Busy Bees Book Blog":
"Amity is just a normal 17 year old girl. Or so she thought until one day she seems to see a stranger that nobody else can see. The stranger tells her he is an angel and she has been given a mission by the Lord God himself; she needs to complete this mission at all costs, even if the cost is her life.
During the mission she is joined by the young priest Mackenzie, who follows to protect her and keep her on her path. Will Amity be able to deliver the message that she has been trusted with?
This book is the first I have read from this author. The book was well written and a very easy and flowing read. The story had an excellent pace and I was gripped by the story from the first chapter. The only unfavourable aspect for me, was the heavily religious theme that ran through this. This is purely a personal taste point, as this may indeed appeal to a lot of people, but for my reading eyes, it was a little heavy at times. That being said, given the storyline, the theme did work well and had relevance to what the characters were experiencing.
Overall I give this 3 stars as it was very well written and I did enjoy it."
